Federal & state funding
The Crime Victims Fund was established through the Victims of Crimes Act (VOCA) of 1984. It provides funds to victims of crime throughout the nation.
Every year, millions of dollars are deposited into this fund from criminal fines, forfeited bail bonds, penalty fees and special assessments collected by the Bureau of Prisons, U.S. Courts and U.S. Attorney’s offices. Because these dollars come from offenders who have been convicted of Federal crimes, not from taxpayers, the amount of dollars in the fund fluctuates annually. Nevertheless, VOCA has been one of our most consistent funding sources.
The State of Michigan provides funding for our intervention and prevention programs through two sources: the Michigan Domestic Violence and Treatment Board and the Children’s Trust Michigan.
Individual donors
Hundreds of individuals donate their time and resources to CAC throughout the year. Thanks to their generosity during our $1 million building campaign, we expanded our child-oriented facility to include more interview and therapy rooms, a group session space, a mock-courtroom and more. When you tour our facilities, you will see a list of our campaign donors.
Your support changes lives
We cannot continue to provide our intervention, therapy and prevention services and programs at no cost without your support. When you give, you are not just funding programs. You are standing beside children in their most vulnerable moments and saying, you matter, you are believed and you will find healing and hope.
Every dollar you give as an individual, foundation, corporation or organization helps protect children, supports their healing and brings hope where fear and loneliness once lived. Your generosity creates safety, restores trust and helps children and their families begin to imagine a future that feels whole again. Your contributions are also vital to providing free or low-cost prevention programming and outreach to thousands of area children, adults and organizations every year.
Please consider donating today, calling 269-556-9640 to talk with us about how you’d like to help or sponsoring or attending one of our fundraising events.
There is a child in our community waiting for you to say yes.
Local funding
Our community provides vital support through the United Way of Southwest Michigan and the Berrien County Prosecutor’s Office. We cannot say thank you enough to the generous foundations, corporations, organizations and individuals whose contributions make our work in the community possible.
